Nice to try a super simple Moroccan recipe, Laasida that is a classic Eid-ul-Fitr breakfast dish. Laasida is a simple and healthy dish made with couscous or semolina and served with butter and honey. Simply try and enjoy!
Recipe Story
It is a maghreb al watan food popular in north Africa. It is similar to mesfouf or porridge. It is a classic recipe loved by Moroccans and considered as a childhood memory of Eid Breakfast at the end of Ramadan.
Ingredients
- Couscous 10 Ounce
- Water 6 Cup (96 tbs)
- Salt 1 Teaspoon
- Butter 2 Tablespoon
- Honey 3 Tablespoon (to taste)
- Butter 2 Tablespoon (to taste)
Directions
MAKING
- In a cooking pan, pour the water and add the couscous. Cover and bring it to boil on medium heat, for about 10 minutes until the mixture has thickened.
- Add in the salt and butter. Stir well. Reduce the heat to low and let the Laasida cook for around 30 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
- When Laasida is cooked to the consistency of mashed potato, take the pan off the heat.
- Serve the Laasida immediately with butter and honey to taste.
