- Frozen foods should be removed and thawed before using. Read the instructions carefully and use the frozen products accordingly.
- Packed foods and drinks often have a limited number of days within which they should be consumed. Read the instructions and follow them properly. For example, if fruit juices or soya milk large tetra packs are to be consumed within 3 to 5 days, stick to their rule.
- Throw away the remaining portion if it is not finished in the suggested timeframe as microbial activities may have started in such products.
- Clean the refrigerator daily to avoid contamination. Avoid overcrowding and consume refrigerated products as early as possible.
- Watch out for puffed packages especially in case of fruit drinks, milk products and soymilk. It is ok to throw away any foods that smell suspicious or different than usual.
- Avoid leaving cooked food in the kitchen and particularly in the sun.
- Make sure you are aware of the quantity of food to be used for a given meal. If you plan to keep the remaining for the next meal, refrigerate it as soon as it cools down. It is better to separate the part to be stored beforehand and keep in another container to avoid contamination during meals.
